Rather than falling across the river, the water here plunges lengthwise along a geological fault line running parallel to the Uruguay River's own course, creating one of the world's longest longitudinal waterfalls. Its appearance is unpredictable, controlled entirely by upstream river levels.

Salto do Yucumã drops 12 metres (39 ft) across a face roughly 1,800 metres wide on the Uruguay, inside Parque Estadual do Turvo / Moconá Provincial Park. It is a block-type fall, and the nearest base for a visit is Governador Roca. Access to the main viewpoint is rated moderate.
