Water descends in four broad stages down terraced rock, and a tunnel drilled straight through the mountainside leads to two enclosed viewing platforms that face the falls head-on in any weather. It is counted among Japan three greatest waterfalls alongside Kegon and Nachi.

Fukuroda Falls drops 120 metres (394 ft) across a face roughly 73 metres wide on the Taki. It is a tiered-type fall, and the nearest base for a visit is Daigo, with NRT the closest airport. Access to the main viewpoint is rated easy.

A walk-in-and-look waterfall
No commercial adventures run at Fukuroda Falls itself — the experience is the approach and the view. Guided day trips from Daigo are the easiest way to combine it with the area around it.
